To get there from Mumbai, you can take a train to Pune. All trains that go from Mumbai to Pune stop at Lonavla. The nearest airport is Pune, about 66 kilometers away. You can alternatively take a Volvo Bus from Mumbai to Pune which go along the beautiful Mumbai-Pune Expressway. The cost of the bus ride is usually between Rs. 180 and Rs. 250 depending on the season that you travel.
There are people who take share cabs which go from Dadar or Vashi in Mumbai all the way to Lonavla. The route that is followed is the same as the bus and the rates are somewhere between Rs. 110 and Rs. 150 depending on the season that you go as well as the car that you hire. The climate of Lonavla is pleasant and the weather is wonderful year around. The maximum temperature in the summer is about 36 degree C and during the winter, the minimum temperature comes to about 12 degrees Celsius. It is one of the most romantic places in India during the monsoons.
